How many guests can Dimebox Ballroom accommodate?
Dimebox Ballroom has a capacity of 200 guests. Guests have plenty of space to enjoy our indoor space, adjacent outdoor limestone patio and grassy cocktail area. If you are hosting a non-wedding event or having your ceremony at another location, we can accommodate seating under the old oak trees (our beloved “Three Sisters”) which is adjacent to the patio/barn. Let us know what you’re looking for and we can go over the layout possibilities with you!
What does the rental fee include?
When you book a date at Dimebox Ballroom, you are provided with 10 hours Day-of Rental (party must end no later than 12am), 1 Hour ceremony rehearsal (day or week prior, based on availability), Bridal Silverstreak ‘Armadillo’/Groom’s Icehouse, Tables (rectangle or round), White Resin Folding Chairs with padded seats (for reception and ceremony) or stained benches for ceremony, White Polyester Tablecloths (optional), Cake Service/Cutting, Tabletop Ice Sculpture of your choosing, Bonfire with Marshmallows and Roasting Sticks, Stage for Band (must provide PA/sound equipment), Optional In-House Catering (clean-up included with catering), Optional In-house Vintage Decor Rentals, 1 hour for break-down, and availability for bridal/engagement photoshoot with your photographer before your date. If you need additional time beyond those 10 hours on the day, we can arrange that for an hourly fee of $125/hour.
Does Dimebox Ballroom have a ceremony space?
We do! Our outdoor ceremonies take place under the draping branches of our Three Sisters (our old oak trees) in the ‘Green Cathedral’ space. The space is adjacent to the barn/patio. If you decide to have your ceremony elsewhere, you can utilize the space for additional reception space. In the event of inclement weather, we can hold the ceremony either in the barn or the patio under a tent.
Can we serve alcohol? Do you have a bar/bartenders?
You can absolutely have alcohol at your event! At this time, we do not sell or serve alcohol. However there are plenty of great TABC licensed bartenders and bartending companies in the area that can take care of your needs. If you need help finding a great bartender, we know a few we can direct you to. Only TABC certified and insured servers can tend bar at the event. All alcoholic beverages MUST be tended to your guests via a TABC certified and insured server, no exceptions!
Do you have an on-site Wedding Planner/Day-Of Coordinator?
While our staff does everything we can to assist you on your day, we DO NOT offer wedding planning or day-of coordinating. We do have a list of great planners on our recommended vendors page! We are here for you to answer as many questions as you have, but please be prepared to have a planner, family member or friend assist you in the details of your day (from orchestrating your ceremony rehearsal to making arrangements to save the top tier of your wedding cake and timing your exit, for example). Dimebox Ballroom is not responsible for any hiccups or issues caused by a lack of planner or helper to get you through your day and we strongly advise you to designate someone to assist you to assure a perfectly smooth and beautiful day.
What are your rules about decorations?
First of all, we can’t wait to see the amazing decorations you have planned for your event! However, we do have some limitations as far as what we simply can’t allow at the venue. No candles (battery powered candles and/or string lights are fine), loose glitter, sand or small confetti are allowed (tossed lavender buds or birdseed make for beautiful replacements!). Additionally, faux rose petals to toss are not allowed but we love real rose petals! We ask that you install your decorations in a way that will maintain the integrity of our facilities (think: tacks, command strips and tape). Nails larger than a tack are not allowed and no staples are allowed in the tables/linens.
Can we have Sparklers and/or Fireworks at our event?
We welcome you to have sparklers for your final departure, however fireworks are not allowed at the facility. A Dimebox Ballroom staff member must distribute sparklers to guests and we will provide a small bucket of water for guests to extinguish their sparklers. Both of these measures are required to prevent fire hazards and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and fun sparkler sendoff!
Does the indoor facility have heating/air conditioning? What are options for outdoors?
Yes, we will keep the room at a comfortable temperature during your event. As for outdoors, during the warm months, we suggest renting large fans to help with air circulation for your guests’ comfort. During the cool months, outdoor patio heaters can be added to your rental.
Does Dimebox Ballroom offer overnight accommodations?
At this time, we do not offer overnight accommodations for guests. However, we can recommend a list of great hotels, Bed and Breakfasts and Cabin rentals in the surrounding area (Georgetown, Cedar Park/Leander, Round Rock and north Austin) that you can offer to your guests. How long do we have use of Dimebox Ballroom on the day of our event?
You are provided with 10 hours Day-of Rental (party must end no later than 12am) which includes set-up and plus 1 additional hour for break down. You can come in for a ceremony rehearsal the day before (pending any other events) or during the week of your wedding for 1 hour.
Does Dimebox Ballroom have dressing rooms?
We have a bridal Silverstreak ‘Armadillo’ trailer as well as an adorable ‘Groom’s Icehouse’ that offer privacy before your event to get ready and relax.
Can we take engagement or bridal portraits at Dimebox Ballroom before our event?
Absolutely! Just contact our Director of Events (Chase) at email@example.com to schedule a date and time.
I’m a photographer/family/couple/etc that is not having an event at Dimebox Ballroom but I would love to be able to schedule a time to do a photoshoot at your venue. Is this allowed and is there a fee?
We love playing host to photoshoots! We can schedule a block of time for your photo session at the current rate of $25 per hour. Please call or email in advance so we can schedule around other planned events. And if you feel like sharing some of your photos, we love to share them with the community!
Can we bring outside catering?
While we offer award-winning in-house catering (click here for menus or let us create one for you based on your tastes and budget!), we welcome your licensed and insured caterer at your event! If you have an offsite caterer, we must schedule at least one meeting with them to walk through logistics of the event. All food must be cooked offsite. If you opt for catering from an outside vendor, clean up is not included in the rental and you will be responsible for leaving the venue in the same condition as it was when you arrived.
What about other vendors? Do we have to choose from a ‘Preferred Vendor List’?
You are welcome to bring in any vendor you wish aside from catering! Our only requirement is that any bartender must be TABC certified and you or they must carry liquor liability insurance for them and caterers must be licensed and insured. Speaking of vendors, what’s this about an ice sculpture that’s included in the rental?
Ah, yes! Isn’t that fabulous?! When you book an event at Dimebox Ballroom, you get an additional amenity that no other venue in the Austin area offers – a free ice sculpture! TJ and Carol Maclaskey have run their internationally award winning ice sculpting business Iceworks (now known as Wicked Ice) in the Houston area for 25 years. During that time they sculpted ice for presidents and royals, celebrities from Mick Jagger and Beyonce to Vince Young and Muhammad Ali along with an endless list of weddings, events and conferences. At their previous venue in north Houston, they offered a complimentary tabletop ice sculpture with every event booked. Now that they have relocated to Georgetown and opened Dimebox Ballroom with their daughters, they are continuing the tradition of offering these complimentary sculptures to events here! Jackpot! When you book your event, we can go over what you would like for your sculpture. The sculpture can also be a shot slide, however, a TABC certified server must pour the shots. How does the payment structure work when booking an event at Dimebox Ballroom?
30% of the full rental fee is due at contract signing. You can also hold a date for up to 2 weeks before committing to a contract with our $500 Date Hold Deposit. If you placed a $500 deposit prior to contract, that will be included in the 30% initial payment. The remaining balance can be paid at your convenience until the final meeting, generally around 2 weeks prior to the event. If you prefer to set up a payment plan, we can arrange for that. The balance must be paid in full no later than 14 days prior to your event. Reservations are available on a first come, first served basis. Our published rates are subject to change without notice until a rental contract is executed.
What about cancellations?
Either party may cancel your event up to seven months (210 days) prior to the scheduled event date, in which case your entire rental fee will be refunded. You may cancel your event up to ninety (90) days prior to the scheduled event date, in which case half (50 percent) of the rental fees will be refunded. Cancellation of your event within any period less than 90 days from your event will result in your forfeiture of the entire rental fee.
Do you welcome same-sex weddings?
ABSOLUTELY! Love is love and we would be thrilled and honored to host your wedding in our space! Dimebox Ballroom is operated in accordance with US policy which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, age, handicap, familial partners, religion and/or national origin.
